The Miracle Blanket review and giveaway

I learned very quickly after the birth of my second child that what they say about kids is true: every one of them is different.
Libby slept for 48 hrs after she was born and then didn't sleep again for six weeks. I would nurse her for hours at a time and often go days without a shower because she cried when I put her down (and I was too inexperienced to realize that crying a little was not going to kill her or make me a bad mother!) She finally started to take great naps during the day but she was still waking up to nurse 2-3 times a night until almost 10 months. (Again, the inexperience!)
Emma Jane slept a 5 hour stretch her first night home from the hospital and by 4 weeks was consistently sleeping around 8-10 hours. She still nursed once at night most nights until about 8 or 9 months but she was very efficient: 15 minutes tops!

But different as they were (and are) my girls had one thing in common: they both preferred their tummies. I honestly believed that all babies slept better on their tummies and I planned to flip John as soon as we got home from the hospital. (The nurses really frown upon doing that in front of them!)

Leave it to my third child do destroy the one absolute that I held onto as a parent. John hates being on his tummy. He tends to take after Libby in that he thinks that any time that is not spent nursing is time wasted. So as soon as his cheek would touch the mattress he started rooting around for a boob! And would quickly get angry when he couldn't find one! Unfortunately, he couldn't sleep on his back either without being tightly swaddled. (You know, those hands he still doesn't realize belong to him keep getting in the way!) And since I have yet to find a receiving blanket that is actually big enough to swaddle properly, this was a real dilemma.

Enter the Miracle Blanket! I ordered one when John was five days old after reading about it on another blog. It arrived a few days later and it has absolutely lived up to it's name! It swaddles him so snuggly! I think the magic ingredient in the Miracle Blanket is the arm flaps that secure his arms to his sides so that he can't wiggle out of it! He is now sleeping 9-10 hours a night, usually from 8pm-5am.

Not only does the Miracle Blanket help him sleep comfortably on his back, it also soothes him when he is fussy. I call 5pm the witching hour because my babies always seem to be fussy then. I pull out the Miracle Blanket and he instantly calms down. I videotaped him being wrapped so that you can see just how amazing this is! Be sure to turn up the volume! (BTW, the other baby crying in the background is my friend Tammy's girl. She was really upset that her mommy wouldn't let her crawl over to John to see what was wrong with him!)

So the girl in me loves the garden pink one but in case my next child is a boy I better pick the beige one just to be safe.

I already follow your blog, of course.

Hm, I like pink. And it really is a miracle blanket...it worked great for Grayson.
It is funny how siblings can be so different. I also thought that tummy sleeping was best but Charlie is totally a back sleeper, despite my best efforts!
