PSF - Babies Don't Keep

Mother, oh Mother,
come shake out your cloth,
empty the dustpan,
poison the moth,
hang out the washing and butter the bread,
sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?

She is up in the nursery,
blissfully rocking.

Oh I've grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.

Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo.

The shopping's not done
and there's nothing for stew

And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo

but I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.

Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue?
lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For Children grow up,
as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs.
Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby
and babies don't keep!

Aw, beautiful photos and a great reminder with this old rhyme.

But really, do you have a trick for getting the dust to go to sleep? And is it really OK that my house is "shocking?" :)

Beautiful poem for a special sweet girl. Her great Maw Maw once said,"Enjoy them every moment, because before you know it they are grown and having their own." BUT now I enjoy their own. HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMMA JANE!

What sweet words to go along with a super cute little girl. Happy Birthday!

Also, I am so jealous of your beautiful pregnancy picture. I only have one taken by my husband and it isn't all that pretty. :)

Just stopping by and have to tell you that I LOVE your girl's names. I have one daughter...Abbey, and your names were next on my list. And then I had 3 boys! Maybe I could sneak one more in? (Probably be a boy again!)
